It makes sense to send a Registered Nurse to attend the physical exam with your client.

Acting as the "eyes and ears" for the attorney, Ms. Ettedgui and her team will attend the exam, support the plaintiff client, audio record the exam and most importantly, take highly detailed notes of the clinical exam findings which will be turned into a comprehensive detailed chronological written report.

"I cannot stress enough how important it is for the Nurse Observer to understand the physcial exam, to include the objective findings, the provokative test results and the client's complaints and put all of that information together in a clear and succinct report. An experienced Nurse Observer can not only relay what occured in the exam, but as important, that Observer can speak to what was missing from the exam and what tests were performed in a subpar fashion by the examiner." Eva Ettedgui, RN, LNCC

Ms. Ettedgui understands that the ultimate medical opinions related to the injury are based on a number of factors, including the images, patient history and symtpoms and everything does not hinge on any one particular clinical test, however having attended so many DMEs and reviewed DME reports as she mentors her team, Ms. Ettedgui, studies the findings of the exam to investigate how those findings concurr with the injury and symptoms. For example, Ms. Ettedgui will ask, "Do the radicular symptoms, such as sensation deficits in the exam correspond with correct anatomical dermatomes indicative of the nerve root compression at corresponding spinal level? And, is the provokative testing producing results also in alignment?" So although one clinical test alone may not give enough information, if the objective findings present a profile of consistent evidence, this is being noted. Or, conversely, at times the complaints do not line up with the objective findings in the clinical tests. All of this information is important to bring forward to the attorney.

Distant DMEs - Through experience, Ms. Ettedgui has seen the need to offer Nurse Observer Services in all the major areas of California and the Nation. Ms. Ettedgui has sought out and mentored exceptional nurses to represent Med Legal Source Inc. and take care of our client's needs when they have distant exams. In most cases, there are no additional fees for distant exams.

Testifying - Finally, in the rare case that the third party observer would need to act as a percipient witness to speak about the exam, you will have a registered nurse on the stand.
