How it works
 First we analyze the case to assure that it has value and merit. One of our goals is to protect your firm from hiring expensive experts for a case that has no merit or value.
We want the most qualified expert on the case. We must first be convinced that causation has been proven. Once causation and damages have been proven, we will make recommendations and bring forth eligible expert witness candidates.
Once the expert witness has been found or more than one if possible, it is up to you, the law firm, to hire this expert witness and draft your own contracts with the expert.
What we don’t do
Med Legal Source does not handle the hiring or billing of the expert witness. We bring eligible candidates forward and the law firm makes the choice of hiring that expert. If you are not satisfied with the expert, we will find you another one at no extra charge.
What we do
Med Legal Source will bring you an expert witness who is a practicing clinician, not a hired gun. Our experts need to be ethical and keep to the integrity of their medical knowledge. We generally do not offer expert witnesses who are full time “witnesses”.
We make sure the expert is available not only to review the medical records and give a specialist opinion, but also to carry the case as our representative all the way to trial if needed. We screen carefully to avoid experts who make a living out of reviewing records with no intention of going to trial.
If the expert is published in his field, we shall read the expert’s publications, books, chapters, as they apply to the subject of the case at hand to assure that the expert is not going to give a medical opinion in our case which is contradictory to literature he/she may have published in the past, thereby discrediting our case and wasting our time and resources.
We act as liaison in communicating with the expert witness if you wish, or not, depending on your style and comfort zone with medical information. Being the liaison during the case is included in the locator fee.
